I'm impressed with the ability this campaign has to capture the attention of our youth and to bring awareness to a very serious subject, breast cancer.

Pioneer Village - October 2010
Jesse scored a goal this year in soccer, and as his reward we agreed to take him to Lagoon for Frightmares. Well in addition to spook alleys, rides, 1 game, icecream and lots of family fun (sincerely. we had a great time. beautiful weather. not many crowds.), we finally got our first Pioneer Village picture; a Davis County tradition.

Birthday wishes
Yesterday I turned 35; the age my mom was when I turned 16. Pause.
I think my very wise 5 year old son said it best, a few days after he turned 5 last month when he said to me, "Momma, I don't feel any different than I did when I was 4; I'm not used to being 5." And rather than burdening him with explaining the responsibilities that come with being a 5 year old, I simply measured him and showed him how much he had grown since he was 4; and he was proud.
Well, today one of my birthday wishes came true; I woke up and I don't feel any different than I did when I was 34. But as I did with Jesse I had to remind myself that I am different; I have had an entire year of learning and growing; challenges and celebrations; and for that (all of it) I am grateful and blessed.
This year, my 35th year, I plan to: count my blessings daily, appreciate the ordinary days, love more, challenge myself both physically & mentally, and embrace "the new".

Booby Heads
Last year Jesse started calling dandelions "booby heads". I didn't teach him that. Chris promises he didn't teach him that. Amanda has no idea where he got it so I assumed he picked it up from the playground at school. And again this Spring when dandelions reappeared, Jesse excitedly exclaimed the "booby heads" are back.
It makes us all laugh.
Well, the mystery has gone unsolved for over a year; until now..... Last night Jesse and I were watching the preschool program Ni Hao Kai Lan. Kai Lan was talking about Spring and how she loves to blow on "poofy heads". Jesse started to laugh and said, "mama, I'm so silly. I've been calling those flowers booby heads but they are really called poofy heads".
I think I'm going to keep calling them booby heads. :)
