Family Vacation to Newport Beach - December 2009

Last year we braved the "cold" 60+ California December weather and had a fabulous family vacation in Newport Beach. Well, since we had such a great time we decided to do it again this year. However the "cold" California December weather was actually a balmy 70+ degrees this year. I definitely did not pack accordingly. lol.

Newport Beach - The kids loved playing with the birds and watching the surfers.

LegoLand - Jesse's favorite place

Getty Museum - this was our day to admire and enjoy some important architectural sights.

Balboa Island - my favorite is the shopping on Main Street and house-hunting....I wish.

Christmas Boat Parade - WOW; something everyone should experience at least once!

Newport Coast State Park - Jorja got a little too close and personal with a wave within 2 minutes of arriving so she got to wear my sweater. Amazingly warm day.

Mofro fo sho sho

Yep, it's kinda fun havin' ur own language between friends. It's even more fun when you can let loose, get your groove on and find your mojo....all in one unintoximicated night.

Love, loved, loved hangin' with the "partners" at Snowbird for J.J. Grey & MoFro.

3 things I'm thankful for (stealing this idea from my favorite blogger and jr. high bff LL)

1. Cool August evenings. The high was 52 degrees in the Canyons. Brrrlicious.

2. Grandma's that my kids love and who encourage a date night now and then. Thanks mom!!!

3. Living in the moment....foot stompin, hip shakin, chicken walkin, circle joinin, head bangin; and smiling and laughing til your cheeks hurt.

Jesse's (second) first day of pre-school

Jesse cheesing it up.... (we couldn't find our chargers so had to use the cell phone camera)

Jesse did attend Discovery Acadamey Montessori pre-school in Bountiful 3days/week from February to July, and Jesse truly gained from the experience (my favorite memory was his school program. He memorized and recited: "England is famous for stone hedges and castles". But when he wasn't pleased with his first reciting he asked to do it again and afterwards ended his performance with an impromptu somersault. lol) but after meeting Mrs. Davis at St. Olaf's, I just knew it was time to move him to his new school. I am so impressed by her enthusiasm, her spirit, her commitment to the children and parents, and her teaching approach. I'm optimistic about Jesse's "first" year of pre-school which is 3hrs 5days/week. And the fact that he started his first day of pre-school with a happy dance is a great sign!!!
Jesse doing his happy dance before he has to run into school. And amazingly we were ON TIME!!!

3 things I'm thankful for....
1. Jesse; I just love that kid so much.
2. A husband willing, able, insisting, and excited to take Jesse to his first day of school.
3. A happy and healthy 4 year old excited about going to school.

Loving daddy

I've got to tell you about the sweetest thing that happened last night at 11pm. Jorja woke up just crying & crying, when I went to go check on her she wouldn't stop crying. I changed her diaper, tried giving her a bottle, checked her pj's to see if they were hurting her, rocked her, walked her and she is still crying so hard which is so unlike her. I finally notice she is pointing to her bedroom door and I think I hear what sounds like "daddy" through her sobbing. Jorja is a momma's girl so I wasn't sure that is what she meant but I took her into my room anyways where Chris was sound asleep. And even though she is now crying in our room, he is still sound asleep. Jorja wiggles her way out of my arms and crawls over to Chris as fast as she can and climbs up on to his chest and finally starts to settle herself down. After about 5 minutes she is snoring right a long with Chris. It made me cry a little; not that I was jealous she wanted Chris more than me but the fact that I'm so lucky to have a husband that is such a great daddy.

My baby is turning ONE this week!!!

You are grandpa's little angel, grandma's sweetheart, and daddy's most precious gift. You are your brother's favorite, momma's joy and by an angel you were kissed. Jorja, we love you so much! Happy Birthday tomorrow!
The top picture is what we submitted to the Clipper (thank you for ALL of the friendly reminders mom & grandpa Don & grandma Pete).....
